Using LaTeX is like using Equation Editor without having to use Equation editor. It’s really simple to learn, and you will find that you really only use some basic expressions like fractions \frac{numerator}{denominator} and powers ^ with and occasional multiplication dot \cdot{number}.
Plus you look very professional and get more points!

    Actually, if learning latex is too intimidating, you can still use Equation Editor… That is, you can use MathType, the commercial upgrade to Equation Editor. (About $50 for students and teachers.) MathType has an “export to LaTex” option—write the equation using the simple interface, then export it to latex. There are also free alternatives that do the same thing like lyx (www.lyx.org) and texmacs (www.texmacs.org).
